House of Sound was inspired by what is considered to be the 17th century description of a modern recording studio, from “The New Atlantis” by Sir Francis Bacon. It is also a reference to the house I share with my husband and musical collaborator, Bill Purse. We often meet each other shuffling through our house as we reflect on our current musical projects, and so refer to our home as the “house of sound.” Created as an experiment in modular music composition using Ableton Live, House of Sound is a series of musical landscapes, influenced by the New Atlantis but drawn from the sounds of my garden and house. The multimedia elements (forthcoming) were inspired and driven by a series of Photoshop workshops with Katrin Eismann and Maggie Taylor and have been presented in performance through ARKAOS VJ software.
Landing here on a Monday morning…what pleasure!
